My poem for the first tiny one, who couldn't stay.

Miguel

I heard about Miguel upon the ocean,
Smiling on the mystic, turquoise blue,
The path of a story changed direction,
An adventure bound in love, deep and true.

He was a mystery of the deepest kind of nature,
A whisper in the skies, upon the wind,
He had the power in his heart to change a lifetime,
And we held hands as we waited to begin.

And everyone who heard about him loved him,
'Cause he inspired in them a hope they never knew,
And they waited for their chance for him to change them,
Waiting where the big sky meets the blue.

His mother woke one morning with the sunlight,
The bitter taste of death upon her tongue,
She sent a silent message 'cross the ocean,
A fervent wish for a battle to be won.

A storm returned that silent wish unanswered,
A heartbeat stilled, a candle turned to smoke,
The world cried its tears and closed its borders,
And his mother wept a name she never spoke.

And everyone who heard about him loved him,
'Cause he inspired in them a hope they never knew,
But that spirit sails forever on the ocean,
Peaceful, where the big sky meets the blue.

Do you prefer the brighter palette or the muted one?

Let me tell you about my good friend, Katie.
We met chasing our kids around a chilly park in Plymouth, and it was love at first sight. She takes no bullshit, she's sharp as a tack, insightful, funny and thoughtful. My years in Plymouth would have been very lonely without her, and I'll be forever thankful that she chatted me up that day.

Katie is also a fabulous knitter and crochet queen. When she understandably couldn't make the journey to Quinn's naming day ceremony, she sent a surprise parcel shortly after, and I just had to make a reel to share her talents with you all.
